Dr. Silber and Staff,
Words cannot express enough how grateful we are to Dr. Silber and his staff. When we first went to Dr. Silber, we had high hopes like any other patients longing for children, but we also had realistic expectations. Dr. Silber explained the process and the chances. After our first IVF failure, we of course were sadden, but Dr. Silber met with us to explain the path forward.
In 2015, we attempted our second round of IVF, which was different for multiple reasons. Dr. Silber and his staff were there with us every step of the way. I will never forget waiting for that phone call to state if it worked or not and the staff joining me in their sheer joy of finding out I was pregnant. The joy was indescribable. We had some early on complications due to bleeding around the 6 week. We were terrified that we would lose our little baby. Dr. Pineda and his staff took wonderful care of us and Dr. Silber’s staff checked on us often. The staff worked with our OB/GYN to ensure a successful pregnancy and transfer to his care. Months later, our little baby girl was born healthy and happy in 2015.
We decided the following year to try for baby number 2 utilizing the frozen embryos we had stored. Again Dr. Silber and his staff explained the process and set our expectations. Dr. Silber explained some options early on if the IVF with the frozen embryo failed the first time. On our first try with the frozen embryo we became pregnant. At the 6 week mark, I again experienced some bleeding; my husband loving joked with me that at least we were consistent. Dr. Pineda, his staff, along with my OB/GYN quickly evaluated and managed the situation. Again, Dr. Silber’s staff checked on us. Months later our second beautiful happy little girl was born in the summer of 2017.
As parents longing for children the emotions and fears can be overwhelming. As a woman in my 40’s I had realistic expectations but also a strong desire to have children and it have never happened. I thought maybe it would not be, but Dr. Silber and his staff took the time to explain the possibilities and they worked with us; we listened and knew he was the doctor for us. We are forever grateful to the care Dr. Silber and his staff, and Dr. Pineda and his staff provided us. IVF is an emotional process and full of hope and expectations and Dr. Silber and his staff were
there for us every step of the way. Thank you so much!!
Infertile patients cannot afford to wait for treatment while their eggs get older.
Dr. Sherman Silber, Infertility Center of St. Louis, is offering video consultations for patients who need to plan now for their treatment while stay-at-home orders are in place. He is talking to and evaluating patients in their home to comply with social distancing measures.
Dr. Silber is discovering that patients actually prefer this method of telemedicine consultation over the conventional office visit. Patients have conveyed that “it is so much more convenient and less stressful” to have a telemedicine personal consultation than to take a day off from work to travel to the doctor’s office and sit with other nervous patients in the waiting room.
The COVID-19 pandemic is thus changing much of the way we will do things in the future, and for the better. “Our patients are surprisingly much happier with this approach. Of course, at some point we need to perform hands on treatment. But with this new manner of seeing patients, we can come to the right diagnosis and treatment plan for most patients more efficiently, quickly, and painlessly, with no loss of personal one-on-one communication.” This is a very welcome new era of telemedicine that has been forced on us by the current difficult times.
