Infertile patients cannot afford to wait for treatment while their eggs get older.

Dr. Sherman Silber, Infertility Center of St. Louis, is offering video consultations for patients who need to plan now for their treatment while stay-at-home orders are in place. He is talking to and evaluating patients in their home to comply with social distancing measures.

Dr. Silber is discovering that patients actually prefer this method of telemedicine consultation over the conventional office visit. Patients have conveyed that “it is so much more convenient and less stressful” to have a telemedicine personal consultation than to take a day off from work to travel to the doctor’s office and sit with other nervous patients in the waiting room.

The COVID-19 pandemic is thus changing much of the way we will do things in the future, and for the better. “Our patients are surprisingly much happier with this approach. Of course, at some point we need to perform hands on treatment. But with this new manner of seeing patients, we can come to the right diagnosis and treatment plan for most patients more efficiently, quickly, and painlessly, with no loss of personal one-on-one communication.” This is a very welcome new era of telemedicine that has been forced on us by the current difficult times.

However, Dr. Silber successfully retrieved additional eggs, leading to a successful first embryo transfer that resulted in the birth of her beautiful baby. Infertility Treatments

Infertility Treatments

  • In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

The husband’s sperm fertilize the wife’s eggs outside the body (in a test tube or culture dish), and the resulting embryos are then returned to her.

  • Mini-IVF

Minimal Stimulation IVF Technique is designed to recruit fewer (but high quality) eggs, thus avoiding the risks of hyperstimulation, reducing the number of injections, and dramatically reducing the cost.

  • Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

A single sperm is injected directly into the egg. The development of ICSI has solved most if not all cases of male infertility.

  • Egg Freezing

Preserve fertility via vitrification, a technique that avoids intracellular ice crystal formation and resulting damage to eggs.

  • Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis

Genetic analysis of a single cell from an 8-cell embryo to determine if it is normal.

  • Vasectomy Reversal

Surgical repair of the vas deferens under high-powered magnification.

  • Male Infertility

Sperm Aspiration is the technique for retrieving sperm directly from the testicles of men who have no sperm in the ejaculate.

  • Ovary Freezing & Transplantation

With advanced cryogenic technology, ovarian tissue can be stored indefinitely to better ensure one’s future fertility.

  • Fibroids and Adenomyosis of Uterus

Women with multiple fibroids and “adenomyosis” are generally considered inoperable and are advised to remove their uterus, eliminating their chances of pregnancy. With our adenomyomectomy operation, we can now successfully save your uterus.
