My name is Kendra McNichols and I am one of the lucky ones who had success with IVF. However it did not start out that way and like so many experience at times it felt like a rollercoaster. However thanks to the unbelievable Dr. Silber and Dr.Pineda we have been blessed with four healthy babies since our journey began.
We did not start out needing any intervention in fact I was able to get pregnant right away with our little girl. So we thought no way would we need IVF after having a baby at 28. Yet little did I know what we faced a head. We ended up doing IUI and 2 rounds of IVF before getting pregnant with twins on our third round of IVF.
Through it all everyone was so encouraging and kind and always answered any questions I had. Every staff member was always so empathetic and made all of the stress manageable.
Dr. Silber was determined to find out why I was unsuccessful, when having good embryos. So he kept altering my protocol until I became pregnant. He remained so positive that we would once again have another baby. Which led to four.
We ended up becoming pregnant on a fresh cycle with our twins Everlie and Dax and went back again two years later and became pregnant with twins again. Yet this time it was a frozen cycle and we had Bliss and Beckett. Our goal was to have one more baby and we were blessed with four. I knew we were in the best place for this to occur. It is not easy and it is so frustrating but everyone becomes a team to achieve one goal.
There were days I wanted to give up but I knew I was in the best hands and I would one day have another baby.
Dr. Silber is constantly and continually learning new techniques and research to continue to make dreams come true for people. We are forever grateful for his passion and knowledge that helped give us the family we always dreamed of.
Infertile patients cannot afford to wait for treatment while their eggs get older.
Dr. Sherman Silber, Infertility Center of St. Louis, is offering video consultations for patients who need to plan now for their treatment while stay-at-home orders are in place. He is talking to and evaluating patients in their home to comply with social distancing measures.
Dr. Silber is discovering that patients actually prefer this method of telemedicine consultation over the conventional office visit. Patients have conveyed that “it is so much more convenient and less stressful” to have a telemedicine personal consultation than to take a day off from work to travel to the doctor’s office and sit with other nervous patients in the waiting room.
The COVID-19 pandemic is thus changing much of the way we will do things in the future, and for the better. “Our patients are surprisingly much happier with this approach. Of course, at some point we need to perform hands on treatment. But with this new manner of seeing patients, we can come to the right diagnosis and treatment plan for most patients more efficiently, quickly, and painlessly, with no loss of personal one-on-one communication.” This is a very welcome new era of telemedicine that has been forced on us by the current difficult times.
