My wife and I have been troubled with the problem of infertility. When I was 30 years old, I found out that I had Klinefelters Syndrome and was told that I would never have children because I have no sperm. I went to several doctors, including top doctors in Seattle, WA that specialized in Klinefelters and infertility.
We lived up in Anchorage, Alaska the past 4 years because of the military. I separated but my wife stayed in the service and we had to choose where we wanted to be stationed next. While it’s not always guaranteed we’ll get to choose where we want to go, there’s a chance we’ll get what we wanted. After researching infertility and Klinefelter, we found Dr. Sherman Silber through a website and did a bunch of research on him. He had an extensive background with dealing with patients with Klinefelter and we wanted to try the IVF process. So we decided to put St. Louis on our “dream” sheet. About 6 months later, we received notification that we were going to St. Louis!
After arriving in the area, we met with Dr. Silber and his team. He was a very nice and compassionate man. He explained everything to us to include my TESE procedure and the IVF Process. I was very nervous about the procedure but he assured me that I would be fine and that there’s a chance he would be able to find sperm through this procedure. Being a 34-year-old man, never having children, I’ve always dreamed of being able to carry my fathers blood line. The past 4 years, all I was told is that I’ll never have my own children because of Klinefelter. I didn’t think it was possible.
We started the IVF process on January 6, 2017. My wife responded well to the hormones and injections and was notified that my TESE procedure and egg retrieval would be on January 15, 2017. We were both very nervous the day of the procedure. Again, Dr. Silber and his team to include Dr. Pineda met with us prior to explain the procedure. We knew exactly what to expect. Both of our procedures went as planned and we both did great.
On January 16, 2017, we were notified that Dr. Silber was able to find sperm! He was able to get enough to fertilize 5 eggs. Miracles do happen and it’s because of Dr. Sherman Silber! We thank God everyday for being able to work with this man and to hopefully be able to start our family. My wife had her transfer today, January 18th and everything went just as planned. We will have to wait until January 30th to see the results. He found enough sperm to freeze and extra embryos in case we have to try again but we were ecstatic just that we were given the opportunity.
We highly recommend Dr. Sherman Silber and his team. Our coordinator Rachael was amazing. She explains everything you need to do and there’s never any question about any procedure. We’re so blessed and miracles do happen, thank you!
