Lower Cost, Better Results, World Renowned Doctor. Free Consultation.

Infertile patients cannot afford to wait for treatment while their eggs get older.

Dr. Sherman Silber, Infertility Center of St. Louis, is offering video consultations for patients who need to plan now for their treatment while stay-at-home orders are in place. He is talking to and evaluating patients in their home to comply with social distancing measures.

Dr. Silber is discovering that patients actually prefer this method of telemedicine consultation over the conventional office visit. Patients have conveyed that “it is so much more convenient and less stressful” to have a telemedicine personal consultation than to take a day off from work to travel to the doctor’s office and sit with other nervous patients in the waiting room.

The COVID-19 pandemic is thus changing much of the way we will do things in the future, and for the better. “Our patients are surprisingly much happier with this approach. Of course, at some point we need to perform hands on treatment. But with this new manner of seeing patients, we can come to the right diagnosis and treatment plan for most patients more efficiently, quickly, and painlessly, with no loss of personal one-on-one communication.” This is a very welcome new era of telemedicine that has been forced on us by the current difficult times.

Infertility Center of St. Louis Achieves Fertility Breakthrough with Turner Syndrome Patient’s Second Natural Pregnancy Following Ovarian Allotransplantation

[St. Louis, Missouri] — [April 15, 2026] — The Infertility Center of St. Louis (IFC) announced today the successful second pregnancy in a patient with Turner syndrome following an ovarian allotransplantation. Turner syndrome is a rare chromosomal disorder that impacts young females and often results in a decreased ability to become pregnant as adults. This remarkable case opens the ability for individuals with few or no eggs to have children naturally.

“This is a profound moment for patients with the most severe forms of infertility seeking to become parents,” said Dr. Sherman Silber, Director of the Infertility Center of St. Louis. “This patient’s second pregnancy marks a meaningful step in validating the real-world impact of the procedures we have innovated for preserving fertility and achieving pregnancy in the most challenging cases.”

Fertility can be preserved for young women by freezing their ovarian cortical tissue with the plan to transplant it back later. In most cases, the patient’s own tissue is used. In this case, the tissue was donated by the patient’s sister, with one‑third implanted into the patient, who did not have functioning ovaries, and the remaining two‑thirds cryopreserved. The procedure has resulted in two natural pregnancies for the patient – first in 2023 and again in 2026.

“This patient’s journey reflects the intersection of compassionate care and rigorous science,” Dr. Silber said. “It shows what is possible when we combine innovation, multidisciplinary expertise, and individualized treatment planning. Behind every scientific milestone is a patient’s hope. This second pregnancy is a powerful reminder of why fertility preservation matters, and why continued innovation in the field can expand possibilities for patients who once had very limited options.”

This successful case underscores emerging evidence supporting advanced interventions as viable options for patients facing infertility due to the most serious medical conditions, age-related ovarian decline, or prior gonadotoxic treatment.
